Wind
Wind is a renewable and environmentally friendly energy source, and New Zealand's hilly topography and long coastline is well suited to wind generation. We have assembled a team of experts and have identified numerous locations throughout the country that can capture this sustainable resource to meet New Zealand's future energy needs.
It can take up to 18 months to collect enough data to determine whether a site would be suitable for a potential wind farm. If the wind monitoring programme is favourable we would then start consulting widely on the proposed project. That consultation would include preparing environmental assessments, as well as talking to neighbouring landowners, communities in the area and other stakeholders to keep them informed and answer questions they may have.
Development
The Company presently has wind monitoring equipment on six sites across New Zealand, including Turitea near Palmerston North. This is potentially one of the best wind generation sites in the world and where we plan to develop a wind farm in partnership with the Palmerston North City Council.
